What is Non-Fiction?
Non-Fiction is a type of writing that is real and has true facts. Type of writing that fall under non-fiction are biographies, autobiographies, textbooks, and other informational texts. Generally, these types of books are not too exciting, unlike creative non-fiction. Creative non-fiction can usually be identified when the author is writing about a past experience, yet still adding facts to the story. Also it it common in creative non-fiction to incorporate reflection on past events. Creative non-fiction is often more fun to read and is a past story being told, as to non-fiction being the equivalent of a textbook. In creative non-fiction, there are the 5 Rs: Real life, Reflection, Research, Reading, and Riting (Writing). Each piece of creative non-fiction has some of these Rs incorporated into them, which is what makes them creative non-fiction.

The story we read together as a class, Us and Them, was a story based on the author's past. When a story is told from the author's past, it is considered creative non-fiction. It is creative non-fiction because it is entertaining the reader while still providing facts.
